Please note that the following rules are now in effect, and will be enforced.
These are to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the Festival.
Rules pertaining to the entry process
- Entries will not be accepted unless accompanied by the appropriate payment.
- Schools must return their entries by 31st July, 2024. Entries after this date will not appear in the programme, and school entries after this date can not be accepted.
- It is with regret the Festival is unable to refund entry fees after the 31st July.
- The final date for entries/alterations will be 21 days prior to the start of the festival (excepting Miss Dance of Workington, and Impromptu). Schools must ensure that the entrance and TDCI championships lists are correct before this date, as subsequent entries will not be accepted.
- A competitor may dance a maximum of twice in a duet or trio class.
- Schools may dance a maximum of twice in each group section.
- Singing in group sections will only be allowed in Cabaret, School Production and Open Group u7yrs
- All parts of the entry form must be filled in for each entry.
Rules governing the operation of the festival
- Taping, video recording and photography are not allowed.
- The time limit for each dance will be strictly enforced. These limits are specified in the Syllabus.
- Running Times are approximate, therefore all dancers must be ready a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the class starting time.
- Tickets must be shown at all times when entering the auditorium.
- Schools must submit the names of their teachers to us two weeks prior to the Festival to ensure that free entry tickets are available at the box office for appropriate persons.
- All Identified personnel MUST sign in/out – the desk will be situated in the Theatre Foyer.
- The adjudicator’s decisions in all cases are final.
- The decision of the committee in all questions or disputes shall be final.
- In the event of an Emergency Evacuation Please ensure the instructions given by Festival Personnel are followed.
- Pandemic – COVID
The festival will run in accordance of any government guidelines which may be in place at the time of the festival. - Any props which are to be used on the stage must be Flame Resistant/ Non-Flammable.
Rules pertaining specifically to the Championships
- The TDCI Championships and IDTA Miss Dance are run in accordance with the rules of the administering bodies.
- It is the responsibility of the schools to ensure that all competitors entered for the TCDI Championships are registered with the TDCI prior to the start of the Festival.
- It is the responsibility of the schools to ensure that the competitor’s TDCI registration number is correct on the championship entry forms
- Registration cards MUST be presented to the Festival Office prior to the start of the specific Championship. Failure to do this will bar the performer from dancing.
- Please note that no remark sheets will be available for the Championships.
School Responsibilities during the Festival
Dressing Rooms
Each dressing room is the shared responsibility of all schools that are using that room.
Each school must have an adult present in their dressing room at all times that:
a. It is occupied
b. It contains any costumes or possessions belonging to the users of the dressing areas.
Supervision
Each school must nominate one person each day to be an emergency contact. Their name must be submitted to the Festival Office prior to the start of the morning session.
Schools and parents are wholly responsible for the behaviour of all children associated with them. Any irresponsible or unruly behaviour may result in the disqualification of the school.
Safeguarding
All Teachers and Chaperones must sign in/out at the signing in desk situated in the foyer whenever entering or leaving the theatre.
All Performers must sign in/out within their allocated dressing area whenever they have arrived at or are leaving the theatre.
Performers who are 16 years old or under must be accompanied by a Teacher or Chaperone at ALL Times.
Chaperones must be provided with any relevant medical information with regard to any child in their care.
To Meet BOPA Requirements
▷ Schools MUST advise the Festival of Names and Duty Times of all Chaperones 1 month prior to the start of the Festival.
▷ All Chaperones MUST be Approved by their Local Authority
▷ Reminder- maximum 12 persons to 1 chaperone subject to age
▷ Schools must forward the number of children and ages (16yrs and under) performing at the Festival
▷ Schools MUST ensure ALL PARENTS provide confirmation in writing their child is fit to perform at the Festival – Confirmation to be given to the Festival Office situated in the Theatre Foyer prior to the start of the Festival.
Additional Responsibilities
Schools must ensure that all performers who are not attending any session are identified to Festival Office situated in the Theatre Foyer at the start of each session.
If any special lighting effects are required, the school must arrange them Directly with Theatre Personnel prior to the festival, any costs incurred will be met by the school.
If there are any Strobe or Flashing lighting effects to be used, these must comply with all relevant Health & Safety Regulations. The Festival Office must be advised and appropriate notices put in place.
